University of East London
The School of Health and Bioscience at the University of East London, is exciting and innovative offering scholarship, education and research in scientific, medical and health related subjects.
In the recent Government Research Assessment (RAE2008) we came in the top 3 Universities in London overall for our Unit of Assessment in Allied Health Professions and Studies.
Located in our School, the Institute for Health and Human Development (IHHD) brings together expertise across the university to carry out research on health and wellbeing and their social, economic and cultural determinants focussing on three key themes:
- Wellbeing and Regeneration focuses on the linkages between social and economic development and health and wellbeing in East London and the generation and use of knowledge in the design and delivery of regeneration; and in monitoring and evaluating its impact.
- Health and Development addresses the complex relationship between health and development in poor countries with a particular focus on the impact of international transfers and vertically funded health programmes in HIV, poverty reduction strategies and the processes of qualification as Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPCs).
- Wellbeing and Globalisation addresses the complex interdependencies between poor and rich countries in achieving development and growth of wellbeing over the coming period.
